چکیده
Low-dose aspirin (ASA) is the most common anti-platelet therapy provided to patients with atherosclerotic disease such as peripheral arterial (PAD) and carotid artery stenosis (CAS). However, between 25% 30% of are nonsensitive their therefore at a four-fold higher risk adverse cardiovascular events. In this study, we investigated if Platelet Works, point-of-care platelet function test, could detect ASA patients. We also determined optimal cutoff point (COP) needed diagnose nonsensitivity. To address our objectives, two patient study cohorts were recruited from outpatient clinics tertiary care hospital network. first discovery total 60 recruited. order establish utility Works in detecting sensitivity, simultaneously evaluated each sample light transmission aggregometer (LTA), gold standard for sensitivity testing, addition testing works. nonsensitivity was defined ≥20% maximal aggregation after induction arachidonic acid by LTA. For validation new cohort 40 taking 81 mg These analyzed LTA validate COP study. analysis that 10 therapy. Our data demonstrated had 23.44% ± 5.414% (95% confidence interval [CI] 11.87%-35.02%; P = .0006) response AA when compared sensitive After conducting receiver operating characteristics curve analysis, COPs using chosen based on Youdin Index (YI). When validating acid, noted specificity 91% 69%, respectively. able identify through test good specificity.

BACKGROUND We present a prototype handheld device based on a newly developed optomagnetic technology for the sensitive detection of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) in a finger-prick blood sample with a turnaround time of 5 min. METHODS The test was completed in a compact plastic disposable with on-board dry reagents and superparamagnetic nanoparticles. In our one-step assay, all reaction processes ...
متن کاملDual antiplatelet therapy monitoring for neurointerventional procedures using a point-of-care platelet function test: a single-center experience.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Growing evidence of the relationship between poor antiplatelet response and occurrence of clinical events elicited the need of monitoring the response which has not been part of our daily practice. We present our initial experience with a new point-of-care antiplatelet-function test (VerifyNow assay) in neurointerventional procedures. MATERIALS AND METHODS Among the 106...
متن کاملPuzzle test: A tool for non-analytical clinical reasoning assessment
Most contemporary clinical reasoning tests typically assess non-automatic thinking. Therefore, a test is needed to measure automatic reasoning or pattern recognition, which has been largely neglected in clinical reasoning tests. The Puzzle Test (PT) is dedicated to assess automatic clinical reasoning in routine situations. This test has been introduced first in 2009 by Monajemi et al in the Oly...
